 Get Involved

Volunteer to help out with the newsletter, the web site, fund-raising, social events, student affairs, linking to Peace Corps Volunteers, special projects -- whatever interests you! You don't need to live in the Washington, DC area to help out. Much of the business of the Foundation is conducted over the internet today. (Some scholars even communicate with us by email, which is pretty amazing to some of us early volunteers!)

Attend a Foundation meeting in Washington, D.C. The meetings of the Board are open to all who are interested in Philippine development. We also have a lot of fun during the meetings!  Email us at to find out when the next meeting will be held.

Consider becoming part of the Board of Directors.  We always welcome committed, enthusiastic people with new ideas! Again, you don't need to live in the DC area to be on the Board.

Become a mentor to a current scholar. Many of the scholars are away from home and their support systems for the first time and can benefit from the encouragement and support of a mentor.

Make a tax deductible contribution to the general scholarship fund to support deserving, financially needy Filipino students.

Start a special scholarship fund in memory of someone special or for a particular region of the Philippines. Over the years we have had many special scholarships funds including our on-going program supported by the BIMAK (Benguet, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Apayao, and Kalinga) organization.

Support an individual scholar for a contribution of $1000 per year. Individual Sponsors receive copies of student essays and letters through the Foundation. Every effort will be made to select a scholar from your region of choice in the Philippines.

Recommend a community contact, a leader who can identify potential scholars in their community.

Recommend a potential scholar in the Philippines -- The scholarship application is available on this website. Potential scholars should have high academic ability, financial need, and a commitment to being a positive force for development in the Philippines.

Write an article for the Foundation's newsletter with news of the Philippines, memories of your Peace Corps experiences, favorite spots, photos, or now-and-then stories. Review a Filipino book or contribute your favorite recipe from Peace Corps days.
